Men's Golf Sits in Fourth After Day Two of Sun Belt Championship

MADISON, Miss. — Southern Miss men's golf shot a 4-under 284 in round two for fourth place at the Sun Belt Championships after the second of three rounds at the Annandale Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
Jake Moffitt jumped 17 individual spots with a 3-under 69, ending the day tied for seventh. The freshman logged 13 pars and four birdies in the round, placing the Ripley, Mississippi, native in a tie for third at nine birdies.
Supakorn Amornchaichan and Walker Wise recorded a 1-under 71, with the pair recording three birdies apiece. Wise added 13 pars to his total, ranking him in a tie for fourth with 26 through both rounds. Amornchaichan is ranked tied for fifth on par-3 with an even score after 36 holes.
Southern Miss improved on the even 288 from round one with a 4-under 284 to place in fourth, concluding day two of the Sun Belt Championship. Coastal Carolina remains in first at 9-under, followed by James Madison, three strokes behind, which rose three spots with an 8-under on the day. No. 45 Arkansas State rounded out the top three at 5-under.
Benjamin Fernandez rounded out the scoring for the team with a 1-over 73. The junior is tied for seventh with Moffitt, ranking tied for fifth on par-4 with a 2-under and an average of 3.90. Matthew Javier recorded an 8-over 80, notching two birdies on the day.
The final round starts at 8:00 a.m. on April 29, with the top four teams of the event advancing in the Sun Belt Championship. Concluding the final round of stroke play, the format moves to match play.
