Southern Miss Completes Regular Season at NOLA Classic

Golden Eagles clinch No. 3 seed in Sun Belt Conference Championship next Thursday
ELMWOOD, La. – Southern Miss Beach Volleyball (14-18, 4-1 Sun Belt) split its final two duals of the NOLA Classic with a 4-1 win over ULM (6-24, 1-5 Sun Belt) and a 3-2 loss to (RV) Tulane (22-13, 1-5 C-USA).
Southern Miss' win over ULM completed the regular season match ups for the Sun Belt Conference and solidified the No. 3 seed for Southern Miss in next week's Beach Volleyball Championship in Foley, Alabama. Southern Miss will square off against the Warhawks for a fourth time on Thursday, April 23, to open its time in the tournament.
Southern Miss 4, ULM 1
Southern Miss picked up its fourth Sun Belt Conference win of the year with a 4-1 victory over ULM. The win improved Southern Miss to 4-1 in league play, setting a new program record for most conference wins and best conference winning percentage.
Zuzanna Michalska and Abby Lewis put Southern Miss ahead early in the first wave with a two-set (21-13, 21-16) win at the second pairing. ULM's Brooke Bankston and Maddie Peterson evened up the dual with a two-set (21-13, 21-15) win at the fourth flight.
In the second wave, Jaden White and Margarita Grigoreva opened the wave with a quick point to put the Golden Eagles back in front 2-1 overall. White and Grigoreva took the point as the fifth position, winning in back-to-back sets 21-18 and 21-15.
Southern Miss' top flight of Laurel Dennis and Sadie McAda held off a Warhawk comeback attempt to clinch the dual for Southern Miss. Dennis and McAda picked up set one 21-17 before ULM's Abby Ryno and Claire Williamson forced a third set with a 23-21 triumph in set two. The Golden Eagle 1s ran to a 15-10 final in the third set to pick up their 18th win of the season.
Giovanna Gurgel Bahia and Kitija Martini Adamsone finished off the ULM with a comeback win at flight No. 3. Bahia and Adamsone dropped the first set, 21-16, before rallying for a 21-17 second set and 15-12 third set to put the overall dual score at 4-1.

The Green Wave staved off Southern Miss' attempt at the first Black & Gold win in the series as (RV) Tulane held on for a 3-2 win.
Katherine Hansen and Emma Morris outlasted Michalska and Lewis at the second pairing (24-22, 21-19) to put Tulane on the board. Southern Miss responded with back-to-back points at the fourth flight from Corcoz and Do (19-21, 21-14, 16-14) and at the fifth flight from Grigoreva and Thomas (21-19, 21-19).
At the 3s, Adamsone and Bahia took the Green Wave well into extra points in the first set before falling 26-24. Tulane's third pairing came back out in the second set and evened up the overall dual 2-2 with a 21-15 second set victory.
All eyes turned to the top flight battle where Dennis and McAda took set one 21-15 before Tulane's Molly Trodd and Skyler Ensign eked out a 21-19 set two. Trodd and Ensign put up an early lead and held off Dennis and McAda's efforts in the third set, giving Tulane a 15-10 set three win and 3-2 overall victory.
