Men’s Golf Closes Regular Season with Top 10 Finish at Mossy Oak Collegiate

WEST POINT, Miss. – Southern Miss men's golf closed out the regular season with a top 10 finish at the Mossy Oak Collegiate, hosted by Mississippi State at the Mossy Oak Golf Club. The Golden Eagles placed eighth, scoring 881 strokes through 54 holes.

Jake Moffitt secured a tie for 7th place finish with a 3-under 69, gaining ground in the back nine with four birdies in seven holes. The Mississippi native tied for ninth at the event with 13 birdies through three rounds.

The Golden Eagles jump six places to usurp eighth place, in front of Sun Belt opponent Coastal Carolina, settling in a stroke behind South Alabama and three behind Troy. Southern Miss shot an even-par on the Tuesday round, securing a top 10 finish just ahead of the Sun Belt Championship at the end of April.

Junior Benjamin Fernandez fell two strokes over par in the front nine but mounted a strong back half posting four birdies leveling out at an even-par and finishing tied for 33rd. Fernandez is tied for fourth on par fives, going six under, averaging 4.50 at the event.

Supakorn Amornchaichan shot a 1-over 73 to climb 12 spots into 77th place, while Walker Wise jumped 13 spots to 45th after carding a 2-over 74. The pair combined for five birdies, with Wise finishing his round with nine consecutive pars on the back nine.

Matthew Javier carded a 7-over 79 to finish 98th in the final round, with the sophomore tied for 34th on par fives going 2-under averaging 4.83.
