Christian (Hoover, Ala.) finished the day 6-for-7 with eight RBI and two walks to lead the Golden Eagle offense. She also scored five runs, legged out a double and recorded Southern Miss' first home run of the 2026 season. In game one, she logged a career-high five RBI to help Southern Miss run-rule Brown in five innings before ending the day by providing a go-ahead three-RBI double to put Southern Miss ahead of Jacksonville.
Southern Miss 18, Brown 2
The Golden Eagles opened the day with an 18-2 run-rule, five-inning victory over Brown. Eight different Golden Eagles tallied a hit as Southern Miss out-hit Brown 11-3 as Southern Miss posted its most runs since pushing across 28 against UMES last year.
Hannah Christian finished 4-for-4 with five RBI, a walk and four runs scored to lead the way for Southern Miss. Her most notable hit of the day came in the third inning as she drilled a three-run home run over the right field wall for Southern Miss' first long ball of the 2026 season.
Christian led off the game with a walk and quickly scored three batters later to give Southern Miss the early lead. Kinsley Gordon-Sivley (Myrtle, Miss.) drove in another run in the frame to give Southern Miss the early 2-0 lead. Golden Eagle starting pitcher BrookLynn White (Maumelle, Ark.) retired the Bears in order in the first of three innings of work on the day.
Southern Miss' first six batters reached base in the second inning Christian turning over the order with a single to center field. Carrie Green (Loganville, Ga.) worked a four-pitch walk to push Julia Glasgow (Canton, Miss.) across the plate for the first run of the frame and to chase the Bears' starting pitcher from the circle.
Brown's reliever walked the next two batters, scoring two more runs before getting the first out of the inning with the score 5-0 in Southern Miss' favor. Glasgow came back to bat with three Golden Eagles aboard, clearing the bases with a two-out, three-RBI double to center field. Christian scored Glasgow with her second hit of the inning for the eighth Golden Eagle run of the frame, pushing the lead to 10-0.
Brown made a change in the circle again, giving up two more walks to load the bases full of Golden Eagles for Chloe Miller (Brandon, Miss.). Miller doubled to center field to score two more to cap off a 10-run second inning by Southern Miss and White a 12-0 cushion as she returned for her second inning of work. She gave up a walk and hit but retired three Bears in order to end the frame.
True freshman Carlee Tubbs (Brandon, Miss.) got her first hit of her career with a pinch-hit triple to lead off the third inning. Ava Segura (Lafayette, La.) recorded her first career RBI with on a SAC-fly to bring Tubbs home in the next at bat. Southern Miss ran the Bears' third pitcher from the game and brought Christian back up to bat with runners on second and third and one out.
Christian drilled career home run No. 4 to right field to make it four runs for the Golden Eagles in the third inning. Brown escaped the inning down 16-0, but White sat the Bears down in order to get her third complete inning of work.
Christian recorded her fourth hit and fifth RBI of the game in the fourth inning as Southern Miss took an 18-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth. Brown scratched across two unearned runs on a passed ball and SAC-fly to prevent a shutout, but Olivia Christian (Hoover, Ala.) closed the fourth without allowing an earned run.
The two teams went down in order on each side of the fifth to give Southern Miss the run-rule victory in five innings. White recorded her third decision of the season, moving to 2-1 on the year after pitching three complete innings and allowing just one hit and walk to three strikeouts. Brown's starter Edie Cobb suffered the loss to fall to 3-4 on the year, posting a final line of 1 1/3 innings, four hits, eight runs (six earned) and nine walks.
Golden Eagle batters tallied four extra-bae hits with doubles form Miller and Glasgow, Tubbs' triple and Hannah Christian's home run.
Southern Miss 7, Jacksonville 5
A go-ahead, two-out, bases-clearing double from Hannah Christian proved to be the difference in Southern Miss' second win of the day as the Golden Eagles held on to defeat the Jacksonville Dolphins, 7-5. Hannah Christian's two-bagger scored three Golden Eagles and gave Southern Miss a 7-4 lead in the fifth inning which Kayla Giardina (Kenner, La.) used as a catalyst to shut down the Dolphins and seal the win for Southern Miss.
After grounding out to open the first inning, Southern Miss used an Abbi Troquille (Tioga, La.) single and double from Carrie Green to strike first for a 1-0 lead. Kayce Bennett (Watson, La.) belted a home run to deep center for two more runs and a 3-0 Southern Miss lead. The homer was her fourth career round-tripper and second on the year for Southern Miss, who notably had not hit a long ball in the first 24 games of the season.
The Dolphins got out of the inning and put together a rally of their own in the last of the first. A hit batter and double placed two Dolphins in scoring position when Sarah Beth Brake grounded out to shortstop but pushed JU's first run across. Southern Miss responded with a SAC-fly by Green in the next frame that scored Hannah Christian to set the game at 4-1.
Jacksonville, though, strung together four at bats to score three runs and tie the game in the second inning. Golden Eagle starting right-hander Natalie Herrington (Petal, Miss.) left the game after giving up an RBI single in the frame, leaving the tying run on second base. Birley Whittington (West Monroe, La.) entered the circle and gave up a walk and two-RBI knock that tied the game before escaping the frame in a 4-4 tie.
Southern Miss went down in order while right-hander Kayla Giardina took over for Whittington in the circle. She surrendered a walk in the third and single in the second but hung back-to-back scoreless frames in her fifth relief appearance of the year.
Southern Miss got things going in the fifth as Kinsley Gordon-Sivley singled her way on before Madison Johnson (Haymarket, Va.) walked and Nealy McManus (Millport, Ala.) singled as well to load the bases with one out. Hannah Christian stepped to the plate with two outs and bases still loaded and ripped a three-RBI double to clear the bases. She was caught in a run down to end the frame, but she had given the Golden Eagles a three-run lead.
Jacksonville led of their half of the fifth with a solo home run before Giardina retired the next three Dolphins. With just two combined base runners in the sixth, the two teams entered the seventh with Southern Miss leading 7-5. Southern Miss went down in order, setting up the Dolphins with their final three outs of the game.
The Dolphins got back-to-back singles to open the frame before Southern Miss retired the lead runner at third. Giardina forced two pop outs to seal the game and earn Southern Miss its 17th win of the season. Giardina was awarded the decision and moved the 7-3 on the year while Jacksonville starter Jacy Harrelson fell to 7-5.
