Men’s Tennis Set for a Three Match Swing in San Antonio

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's tennis (6-5) heads back on the road this week for a three match swing in San Antonio, opening against Incarnate Word (8-1) on Monday, March 16, before facing UTSA (1-10) on Tuesday, March 17, and Texas A&M Corpus Christi (11-2) on Wednesday, March 18. The first serves of 11 a.m. against UIW, 11 a.m. against UTSA and 10 a.m. against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Southern Miss enters the trip after closing its home schedule undefeated with a 4-3 Senior Day win over Omaha on Friday at the USM Tennis Complex. The Golden Eagles have won six matches this spring and will now look to carry that momentum into a busy midweek stretch away from Hattiesburg.
The trip opens Monday against an Incarnate Word team that has won eight straight matches. The Cardinals improved to 8-1 with a 5-2 win over Louisiana on Sunday and will host Southern Miss at 11 a.m. in San Antonio.
Southern Miss then turns to Tuesday's matchup with UTSA at the UTSA Tennis Center. The Roadrunners are 1-10 entering the week and are set to host Louisiana on Monday before welcoming the Golden Eagles the following morning.
The final match of the swing comes Wednesday against Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Islanders carry an 11-2 record into the matchup and list Southern Miss on their schedule for a 10 a.m. start in San Antonio.
Southern Miss will travel Eric Perkowski, Saheb Sodhi, Olle Noltorp, Ritabrata Sarkar, Jay Temming, Kale Mize, Jose Murariu, Matei Varbanciu, Rasmus Becker and Julius Bult for the trip, with Zubin Engineer leading the program and Nicolas Simkin serving on staff.
After the three match stretch in Texas, Southern Miss returns to Sun Belt play on March 22 at South Alabama.
