Men’s Tennis Set for Two Home Matches to Close the Week
2/26/2026 10:41:00 AM | Men's Tennis
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's tennis continues a busy stretch of home matches this week, welcoming New Orleans and Norfolk State to Hattiesburg as the Golden Eagles look to build on recent momentum and keep stacking valuable match reps on the home courts.
Southern Miss has played a fast paced early schedule and will get another opportunity to settle into rhythm with back to back days at the USM Tennis Complex. The Golden Eagles have shown the ability to set the tone early with sharp doubles play, and this week's slate provides another chance to use that opening point to create separation heading into singles.
Friday's matchup with New Orleans begins the weekend, with Norfolk State visiting Saturday.
With quick turnarounds and limited recovery time, depth across the lineup and a strong start in doubles will be important as Southern Miss looks to protect home courts and keep building confidence as the spring slate moves forward. The weekend schedule originally included a Sunday match against Charleston, but the March 1st contest has been canceled after officials could not be secured.
Southern Miss will have a full roster available for the weekend, including Eric Perkowski, Saheb Sodhi, Olle Noltorp, Ritabrata Sarkar, Jay Temming, Kale Mize, Jose Murariu, Matei Varbanciu, and Rasmus Becker. Zubin Engineer leads the Golden Eagles, with Nicolas Simkin assisting on staff.
