HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's tennis returns to action this weekend with a two-match slate that begins at home before shifting to the road.
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend after opening the spring with a split in Lubbock. Southern Miss dropped a 5-2 decision at Texas Tech in the season opener, then responded with a 4-3 win over No. 5 Lubbock Christian (Division II). After falling behind 1-0 following doubles against LCU, the Golden Eagles rallied with four singles victories to secure the team win and carry momentum into the next stretch of the schedule.
Southern Miss will look to build on that start when it welcomes Jackson State to Hattiesburg on Friday, then heads to Birmingham for a Sunday matchup at Samford. The weekend provides an opportunity to protect home courts, then take that energy on the road in a quick turnaround.
Southern Miss will have a full lineup available, including Eric Perkowski, Saheb Sodhi, Olle Noltorp, Ritabrata Sarkar, Jay Temming, Kale Mize, Jose Murariu, Matei Varbanciu, and Rasmus Becker. Zubin Engineer leads the Golden Eagles, with Nicolas Simkin assisting on staff.
