1/10/2026 4:58:00 PM | Men's Basketball
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss (11-7, 5-1 Sun Belt) has now rattled off four-straight wins after picking up a 70-60 win over ULM (3-15, 0-6 Sun Belt) on Saturday afternoon. The win puts Southern Miss at 5-1 in Sun Belt play, marking its best start in league play in over 10 seasons.
Four Golden Eagles reached double figures, while Djahi Binet picked up a 16-point, 11-rebound double-double. Southern Miss also moved to 41-10 at The Greenhouse since the start of the 2022-23 season.
Notables
- Southern Miss used its recent starting five of #1 Curt Lewis, #2 Brewer Carruth, #4 Tylik Weeks, #13 Dylan Brumfield, #15 Djahi Binet
- The first Golden Eagle points were scored by Curt Lewis for the fourth time this season, and it was the fourth time it was a three-pointer to start the scoring for Southern Miss

- Southern Miss moved to 30-17 all-time against ULM and 20-6 against the Warhawks in Hattiesburg
- The nine turnovers are the second fewest the Golden Eagles have committed in a game this season. It's the first time finishing with fewer than 10 turnovers since the Louisiana game on Dec. 18. It's the fourth game this season with fewer than 10 turnovers
- Curt Lewis finished with two three-pointers, making it the second-straight game with at least two made three-pointers. He has at least two in 11 games this season
- Djahi Binet made the first three-pointer of his career on what was just the third attempt in 77 career games
- Binet scored 16 points to finish in double figures for the eighth time this season and fourth-straight game

- Dylan Brumfield reached double figures for the eighth time this season and fourth-straight game after finishing with 15 points
- Brumfield matched his season high scoring after having 15 last Saturday against Louisiana
- Brumfield finished with a season-high five steals. It's the second most steals by a Golden Eagle this season and the most since Isaac Taveras (6) and Tylik Weeks (5) combined for 11 steals at Grambling on Nov. 13

How it Happened
Curt Lewis drained the first shot of the ballgame for either team, but Southern Miss struggled to get anything going after that as ULM went on a 14-3 run. Lewis sprinkled in another three-pointer during that stretch, which was the only offense for the Golden Eagles over their first 11 shot attempts.
Chiante' Tramble made a deep shot to spark a little Southern Miss momentum and then Djahi Binet followed with the first made three-pointer of his career. That cut the ULM advantage to 22-17 as Dylan Brumfield and Tylik Weeks then scored on back-to-back offensive possessions to make it a four-point game.
ULM countered with two straight three-pointers that extended the lead back to seven with less than three minutes to play in the half. Just as the Warhawks answered, so did Southern Miss. Over the final three minutes of the half, Southern Miss went on a 10-0 run to take a 31-28 lead at the half.
The rally started with Brumfield pick-pocketing a Warhawk and going down for a layup, then Binet grabbed a rebound and went down to score to make it a one-point game. Binet made a pair of free throws, and Weeks gave Southern Miss the lead with six seconds left on the clock. ULM went scoreless over the final six minutes of the half.
Both teams traded baskets to open the half before ULM went on a one-minute, 8-0 run. That gave the Warhawks a four-point lead, but Brumfield scored five-straight, and Binet converted an and-one to put the Golden Eagles right back into the lead.
And for the second-straight game, Tylik Weeks came alive in the second half and made his presence known with a string of tough jumpers that put Southern Miss ahead by eight. The Golden Eagles went on a stretch of 7-for-10 shooting heading into the under-eight media timeout, while ULM managed to go on a run of its own to make it 54-51 for the home team.
Israel Hart nailed a pair of bit-time treys as Southern Miss clung to a narrow lead down the stretch. ULM used a free throw to get within six with 2:30 left, but solid free-throw shooting from the Golden Eagles did the job as they finished with a 10-point victory.
