
Volleyball Opens Conference Play Against ULM

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss volleyball is set to host ULM on Thursday and Friday to open Sun Belt Conference play in the Wellness Center. Both matches will be played at 6 p.m.
Southern Miss (8-3, 0-0 SBC) kicks off conference play after a 3-0 sweep of Jackson State to close out the Golden Eagle Classic last weekend. The Golden Eagles took two additional sweeps against Grambling State and Northwestern State to finish 3-0 in the tournament.
Sadie McAda, named tournament MVP, paced the offense with 13 kills and added eight digs. Diana Wells followed with nine kills and three blocks, while Brynn Botkin recorded seven kills and two aces. Sunni Sheppard led all players with 14 digs, and Gaby Zovko tallied 29 assists, seven digs, and two aces to guide the offense.
Nationally, Sheppard ranks 56th in digs per set at 4.33.
Within the Sun Belt, the Golden Eagles rank second in points per set (17.89) and kills per set (13.86). Individually, Morgen Durgens is third in assists per set (9.40), while McAda ranks third in kills per set (4.19).
ULM (9-5, 0-0 SBC) heads into conference play after a 3-2 loss to Sam Houston in the Bearkat Classic. The Warhawks are ranked third in the West division following Southern Miss' second spot in the West.
