HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Following its historic 2024-25 season, the Southern Miss women's golf team unveiled its 2025-26 schedule on Friday.Â
The Golden Eagles are coming off a historic season in which they won their first Sun Belt Conference Tournament in program history and qualified for their first-ever NCAA Tournament. Departed senior Momoka Ando also took home the Sun Belt Individual Title in Point Clear, Ala.Â
"Within our schedule, you'll see some new tournaments and staple regional competition tournaments," said head women's golf coach Colton Cowan. "Within the new scope of the 500 rule in women's golf, everyone's having to be a lot more strategic on how they schedule their competition. I believe we've positioned ourselves well in that category.
"Our fall schedule is really strong, providing the catalyst for where we want to be. We will be going toe-to-toe with some of the best schools in the country. Then, going into the spring, we will have a good idea of the developments needed for us to grow and contend in postseason play."Â
Second-year head coach Colton Cowan's team will open the season Sept. 8 at the Branch Law Firm and Dick McGuire Invitational. The two-day event will be played in Albuquerque, N.M., at the University of New Mexico Championship Course. The following week, Southern Miss will travel to Bartlesville, Okla., for the Lady Clerico Invitational that will start on Sept. 15. Hillcrest Country Club will play host to the two-day event that will feature 36 holes of play on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday, Sept. 16.Â
For the second-straight season, Southern Miss will head to the Diane Thomason Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa, on Sept. 29 and 30. The Golden Eagles finished in seventh last season at Finkbine Golf Course. Another mainstay on the schedule is The Ally at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point. The Golden Eagles will once again compete in the three-day event that starts on Monday, Oct. 20.
Southern Miss ends the fall season with The Judson at Hattiesburg Country Club. The Golden Eagles won their home event last season with a two-stroke lead over Tarleton State, while Taylor Trible and Louise Cuyvers finished in the top five. Cowan's squad will then open the spring semester at the Great River Cup on Feb. 16 and 17. The two-day tournament at Windance Country Club will be a match-play event which the Golden Eagles finished in third last season.Â
The Golden Eagles travel to Aiken, S.C., to open March play as they are slotted for the More Than Golf Invitational Presented by Bank of America and the Annika Foundation. The three-day tournament kicks off on March 1 and will be played at Old Barnell Golf Course. Southern Miss wraps up March with The Magnolia Collegiate at Magnolia Grove Course and the ULM Invitational at Bayou DeSiard Country Club.
The reigning Sun Belt Tournament champions will travel to the conference tournament on April 20-23. The first three days will feature stroke play culminating in an individual champion. The final day will see the top four teams advance to match play.Â
