"What a great way for Mo to capitalize on such a historic career here at Southern Miss," said head women's golf coach Colton Cowan. "It's a high honor to be selected to the All-Conference team, and it just shows all the work she has done all year. It's a testament to how prepared she was for the heat of the moment at the conference championship -- individually and with the team.Â
"You don't just show up and rely on luck, you train for the occasion. You get prepared for the challenges that the tournament has, and you respond accordingly. She managed herself well, while preparing, which allows her to reap the benefits of the awards that she gets."
Ando turned in one of the best individual seasons in program history as she was crowned the Sun Belt Tournament Individual Champion on April 16. The Tokyo, Japan native also set the second-lowest single-season stroke average after averaging 73.6 strokes per round. During the 2023-24 campaign, she was also named Second Team All-Sun Belt as she set the program record for low stroke average.Â
She aided Southern Miss to three team titles this season as she had one as an individual (Sun Belt). Ando had four top four finishes, and six top 15 finishes this season, while bringing her career rounds played total to 118 - the second-most in program history. Starting with the final round of the Bama Beach Bash on March 18, Ando delivered seven-straight par-or-better rounds and had two match play wins in that stretch.Â
Most notably, Ando helped Southern Miss to its first NCAA Regional Tournament this season. She also guided the Golden Eagles to their first conference title in program history as they beat Georgia Southern to earn the Sun Belt auto bid. Ando ended her Southern Miss career as a three-time All-Sun Belt second teamer.
