JB Middleton Wins Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss junior right-hander JB Middleton (Yazoo City, Miss.) was awarded the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week Tuesday afternoon in a vote conducted by its member schools.
Middleton won his fifth-straight decision to up his record to 7-1 last Thursday in an 8-1 win, after tying a career high for both innings (eight) and strikeouts (12). He allowed just four batters to reach base with only one scoring on a home run. Only one other runner reached second base.
He retired seven batters in a row at one point and never allowed more than one batter reach in an inning.
Middleton has now fanned 34 in his last three home starts.
Middleton ranks tied for the league lead with seven victories, while having the lowest ERA at 2.05 and the most strikeouts in the Sun Belt with 74.
This is the 10th Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week honor for the Golden Eagles since joining the league in 2023, as Middleton becomes the sixth different Southern Miss pitcher to win this award with his first accolade this week.
Southern Miss has won either a Player or Pitcher of the Week by the Sun Belt three times this spring.
The Golden Eagles return to action tonight when they play host to Tulane in the first of two home midweek games. The Wednesday home contest features the Golden Eagles taking on Southeastern Louisiana. Both games begin at 6 p.m.
