Women’s Tennis Closes Season with Gritty 4-2 Win Over ULM

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's tennis team wrapped up its 2025 season on a high note, earning a 4-2 win over ULM on Friday at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
Southern Miss turned in one of its strongest performances of the season, seizing early momentum in doubles before securing three key singles victories to clinch the match.
The Golden Eagles came out swinging in doubles play, where Hannah Chambers and Malannia Vashkevich rolled to a 6-2 win on court three. Talia Wunnenberg and Jordan Parker followed with a 6-4 victory on court two, locking in the doubles point. The top pair of Miranda Xu and Sakura Sudo had their match left unfinished, tied at 5-5.
In singles action, Gagana Mohan Kumar gave Southern Miss a 2-0 advantage with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win on court six. ULM responded with a win on court one, but Miranda Xu answered with a straight-set victory on court two to push the lead to 3-1. The Warhawks struck again on court five, trimming the deficit to one, but freshman Sakura Sudo delivered under pressure once again. In a three-set battle on court four, she powered through for a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win to secure the match for the Golden Eagles.
