
Ando Tops Sun Belt Leaderboard After Shooting Four-Under on Tuesday

POINT CLEAR, Ala. -- The Southern Miss women's golf team is in a two-way tie for the final match play spot as the Sun Belt Championships head into Wednesday's final stroke play round at Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Ala. Meanwhile, senior Momoka Ando holds a three-stroke lead as she climbed to the top of the individual leaderboard.
The Golden Eagles were sparked by Ando's four-under 68 as they made a five-stroke improvement from Monday's round. Southern Miss fired a 294 as a team and is now tied at 17-over par with South Alabama. The top four teams advance to Thursday's match play rounds.
Ando's play gave way to five birdies today and the Golden Eagles are now in second for total birdies through 36 holes at 32 - Georgia Southern leads the field with 34. Senior Elena Melich bounced back today with a one-over 71 to best her Monday score by eight strokes. Taylor Trible is tied for 29th after shooting a four-over 76 today. Freshman Louise Cuyvers was one off Trible's score as she came into the clubhouse with a five-over 77 and is tied for 41st heading into the final round of stroke play.
Alma Betoret is tied for 48th after posting a five-over 77 and carded one birdie today. The Golden Eagles had 15 birdies today as a team - led by Ando - and Melich had four of them.
Georgia Southern holds a seven-stroke lead on Coastal Carolina through two rounds of action at Lakewood Golf Club. ULM, South Alabama and Southern Miss round out the top five. Ando leads Louise Reau of Georgia Southern and Daniela Campillo of ULM by three strokes. LoraLie Cowart (Georgia Southern), Anna Andrysova (ULM), Pariya Sanpanawat (Georgia State) and Katharina Schroll round out the top five on the individual leaderboard.
