
Men's Tennis Drops Road Match at Old Dominion

NORFOLK, Va.– Southern Miss men's tennis faced a tough test on the road Saturday morning, falling 5-0 to Old Dominion in Sun Belt Conference play.
The Golden Eagles (record not listed) were unable to gain momentum in doubles and couldn't break through in singles as the Monarchs clinched the match behind a dominant performance at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
Old Dominion grabbed the early lead with doubles wins on lines one and two. Ricards Spaks and Ritabrata Sarkar dropped a 6-1 decision on line one, while the pairing of Pasawee Reansuwong and Olle Noltorp fell 6-3 on line two.
In singles action, Southern Miss couldn't hold off a surging Monarchs lineup. Saheb Sodhi fell 6-2, 6-2 on line one, followed by a 6-1, 6-1 defeat for Rasmus Becker on line two. Niklas Jensen battled on line three but dropped a 6-2, 6-1 result. The match was clinched when Ricards Spaks came up short 6-3, 6-0 on line four.
With the result decided, play was halted on the remaining courts.
Southern Miss will look to regroup as it returns to action Saturday for its final match against James Madison.
