Track and Field Shines With 16 Wins at Southern Miss Invitational

Leading the Golden Eagle women's team was Taliyah Lindsay, who won the 100-meter race in a scorching 11.42 seconds and followed it up with a 200-meter win in 23.67. Valencia Watson and Tacherria Lawson placed in the top eight in both sprints, while Kennedi Sanders finished second in the 200m. In the mid-distance races, Southern Miss dominated the 800m, with Jaellene Burgess winning (2:13.59), while Addison McLaurin took first place in the 400m (55.12). While Alexandria Cooper scored another distance victory in the 3000m (10:17.83), Emme Bates won the 1500m gold in 4:31.86. Highlights of the hurdles Sierra Edwards won the 100-meter hurdle race with a sprint (14.05). Watson, Sanders, McLaurin, and Lindsay's 4x100-meter relay team added another Golden Eagle victory with a time of 44.99.
On the men's side, Kingsley Unorji sprinted to victory in the 100m (10.47), while Kelsey Singleton won the 400m in 47.36 seconds. Javel Fullerton continued dominance in the hurdles, taking first in the 400m hurdles (51.95). In the field events, Piers Cameron showcased his strength in the shot put with a winning throw of 18.45m. Connor Mozee earned another victory in the discus (54.74m), while Maximus Littleton cleared 2.08m to win the high jump. Tyler Nichols added a win in the long jump (7.43m) to round out the wins for the weekend.

The Golden Eagles celebrated their seniors on Saturday morning, including Jelese Alexander, McGill, McRee, Arianna White, Kelvin Chiku, Justin Johnson, Zayne Palomino, Rhett Schimpf, Jacoby Tanner, Ward, and Mason Watkins.
Southern Miss will hit the road to the track on Friday, April 4th, competing in the Ole Miss Joe Walker Invitational in Oxford.
