Track and Field Set for Joe Walker Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss track and field team travels to Oxford, Mississippi, this weekend to compete in the Joe Walker Invitational, hosted by Ole Miss.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a dominant showing at the Southern Miss Invitational, where they won 16 events. The men's team claimed seven victories, while the women secured 11. Taliyah Lindsay led the way for the Golden Eagles, winning the 100-meter dash in a blazing 11.42 seconds before adding a 200-meter victory in 23.67. The men excelled across both track and field events throughout the weekend.

This marks the Golden Eagles' first return to Oxford since 2021. Competition begins Friday with the women's hammer throw at noon, followed by a rolling schedule of running events starting at 6 p.m. Saturday opens with the men's and women's high jump, with running events continuing a rolling schedule at 2 p.m.

The meet will be available to watch on the SEC Network.
