Men's Golf Finishes Dorado Beach Collegiate with Second-Place Showing

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss shot a final-round team score of 283, to finish second at the three-day, 54-hole Dorado Beach Collegiate Tuesday in Dorado, Puerto Rico.
Senior Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) fired his third-straight round of 69 over his final 18 holes at the par 72, 7,119-yard TPC Dorado Beach Club – Sugarcane course to place tied for second in the event with a 207-stroke total. It was the highest finish for Dupuy since winning the White Sands Bahamas Challenge in Oct. 2022.
Dupuy posted the second-best tournament on par 4 holes, while tying for second in birdies with 16.
Freshman Matthew Javier (Toronto, Ontario) added a 69 over his final circuit to finish one stroke behind Dupuy with an eight-under 208 to tie for fourth in the event.
A 73 over his final round for sophomore Benjamin Fernandez (Asuncion, Paraguay) dropped him to an 11th-place tie with a six-under 210. Junior Will Burnham (Jackson, Miss.) added an even-par 72 for a two-over 218 for a 43rd-place tie, while freshman Filip Sakota (Milan, Italy) ended his tournament with a 75 to hold a 228 and an 86th-place tie.
Redshirt junior Walker Wise (Tupelo, Miss.), playing as an individual, finished his final circuit with a one-under 71 for a 223 and a 69th-place tie.
The Golden Eagles finished just eight stroke behind tournament host UNCG, who finished with an 835, while Southern Miss ended with an 843.
Southern Miss returns to action when they travel to the Seminole Invitational, March 10-11, in Thomasville, Ga.
