Women’s Basketball Travels to Mississippi State for Sunday Matchup

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss women's basketball team travels to face in-state foe Mississippi State in the program's final non-conference game before conference play begins later this month with a Sunday, Dec. 14, matchup at Humphrey Coliseum in Starkville.
Game time is set for 2 p.m., and will be shown via SEC Network+, as well as heard on WFOR-AM (92.7 FM) in the Hattiesburg area as well as online at SouthernMiss.com.
The Golden Eagles (7-3) are fresh off an 81-73 victory at home last Sunday over UAB, while the Bulldogs enter the contest having posted a 9-1 record, as well as riding a five-game winning streak heading into the affair.
This marks the 49th game between the two programs with MSU holding a 25-22 lead in the series. The Bulldogs have won the last eight contests in the series including a 91-58 triumph on Nov. 9, 2019.
Five Lady Eagles average double figures in scoring, led by Carly Keats at 13.0 points per game. Keats is followed by Meloney Thames at 12.7, Sakyia White at 11.7, Hayliegh Breland at 10.7 and Jakayla Johnson at 10.0 points per contest.
The Golden Eagles rank in the Top 30 nationally in two different categories as a team, including No. 24 in three-point percentage at 37.3 percent per game and No. 30 in scoring offense at 80.0 points per contest.
Following the Mississippi State contest, the Lady Eagles return home Dec. 18, to open Sun Belt Conference play. Game time at Reed Green Coliseum is 5 p.m.
