JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Southern Miss women's tennis wrapped up the UNF Fall Invitational with a strong doubles performance and a productive weekend of reps across the traveling squad. The Golden Eagles made the most of three days at the UNF Tennis Complex, facing a mix of regional opponents and using the event as a late-fall tune-up.
Sakura Sudo and Miranda Xu led the way in doubles with a run to the final. The pair opened with a 7-5 win, followed it up with a 6-4 victory in the second round, and continued to show steady patterns on big points. Their final did not go their way, but the level and composure they carried through the draw marked a clear bright spot for the group.
Hannah Chambers and Kamornwan Kornsila responded well after a tight 5-7 loss in their opener. The duo bounced back with a 6-4 win in the back draw, then closed their weekend in emphatic fashion with a 6-0 result, cleaning up returns and finishing at the net. The response showed that there was adjustments made quickly and momentum built with each match.
With Chambers, Sudo, Xu, Kornsila, Pimmada Lim, Mia Hasashi-Morrissey, and Gagana Mohan Kumar all gaining court time in Jacksonville, the Eagles left the UNF Fall Invitational with sharper doubles chemistry, stronger no-ad habits, and added confidence heading into the final stretch of fall preparation.
