Dennis and Michalska Qualify for AVCA Beach National Championships

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss' Laurel Dennis and Zuzanna Michalska earned a bid to the AVCA Pair National Championships at last week's Central Zone Qualifier in Huntsville, Ala., the first-ever bid to the event in program history.

Dennis (Gulfport, Miss.) and Michalska (Warsaw, Poland) are one of 21 pairs from around the country to earn a bid to the tournament this fall, hosted by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in Huntsville. The pair snagged one of three available bids at last week's AVCA Collegiate Beach Central Qualification Tournament hosted by Rally VB.

The AVCA Pair Championship will take place from Nov. 7-9 in Huntsville, Ala., at the John Hunt Sand Volleyball Complex. The three-day event is in its third year following NCAA legislation changes that allowed more fall competition for beach volleyball programs.

Sixty-four of the nation's top pairs will compete in the tournament with 21 bids being given out on an at-large basis this fall and 43 awarded to pairs based on team performances in the spring season.
