Beach Volleyball Opens Fall Competition with AVCA Collegiate Beach Central Bid Tournament

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss beach volleyball team begins its fall slate this weekend at Coconut Beach Volleyball Complex in Kenner, La., at the two-day AVCA Collegiate Beach Central Bid Tournament hosted by Southern Miss.
Two bids to the AVCA Fall Collegiate Beach Championships are on the line as the Golden Eagles' pairings will be joined by Houston Christian, LSU, McNeese, New Orleans, South Florida and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

In the AVCA Bid Division, 16 total pairs will compete in four total competitions, two on Saturday and two on Sunday, with the top two pairs earning a bid to the fall national championships in Huntsville. A total of 38 other pairs will also suit up this weekend across the Pink (12 pairs), Aqua (14 pairs) and Blue (12 pairs).
Southern Miss will be represented by two pairs in the AVCA Bid Division with Laurel Dennis (Gulfport, Miss.) and Zuzanna Michalska (Warsaw, Poland) joining forces alongside Giovanna Gurgel Bahia (Recife, Brazil) and Ryann Thomas (Georgetown, Ky.).
In the Pink Division Kenzie Boyd (Hattiesburg, Miss.) and Y-Nhu Do (Cary, N.C.) will compete as will Kitija Martina Adamson (Marupe, Latvia) and Jaden White (West Palm Beach, Fla.). Abby Lewis (The Woodlands, Texas) will pair with Bonija Runce (Jurmala, Latvia) in the Aqua Division. Lewis and Runce will be joined by Izzy Beech (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) and Margarita Grigoreva (Moscow, Russia). Brooklyn Bowdler (Paragould, Ark.) and Iustina Corcoz (Bucharest, Romania) will be the only Golden Eagle pairing in the Blue Division.
Beech, Bowdler, Corcoz, Grigoreva, Lewis and Runce will all be making their first appearances for the Black & Gold.
