Women’s Tennis Stack Singles and Doubles Wins at Regionals
10/20/2025 10:55:00 AM | Women's Tennis
AUBURN, Ala. — Southern Miss women's tennis closed a productive week at the ITA Southern Regional, stacking reps in both singles and doubles and getting valuable late set experience that will carry into spring duals.
The Golden Eagles opened with multiple doubles pairings and settled in quickly. First-serve placement and clean returns set up the net, and several matches turned on no-ad points. Even in the tight ones, the communication and court coverage improved round to round which included more purposeful poaches, better middle control, and higher first-volley quality.
Singles featured plenty of competitive mileage. USM players pushed through tiebreak first sets, flipped patterns in third sets, and handled quick turnarounds on back-to-back days. The group mixed main draw and consolation action to maximize matches, emphasizing return depth, holding serve under pressure, and finishing at the net when they earned short balls.
By the weekend the themes were clear, serve-plus-one patterns looked sharper, break-point conversion ticked up, and the team was more consistent. The fall is about building reliable choices under stress, and this event provided exactly that.
