Women's Tennis Hosts UTC, Northwestern State to Open Spring Season

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-The Southern Miss women's tennis program is set to begin its 2025 slate with two home matches at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex, taking on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Friday at 2 p.m. and Northwestern State on Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Golden Eagles return key players Angelina Blinova, Hannah Chambers and Malannia Vashkevich, while welcoming six newcomers: Gagana Mohan Kumar, Jordan Parker, Manuella Persson, Sakura Sudo, Talia Wunnenberg and Miranda Xu.

The Golden Eagles look to build on momentum from their first postseason win in eight years in 2024, coming from a victory over Arkansas State in the opening round of the SBC Championships. Southern Miss returned to action in the fall, securing wins at the ITA Southern Regionals, UAB Fall Invitational and North Florida Fall Invitational.

Head coach Piyanart Engineer enters her third spring season leading the program, alongside assistant coach Abhijeet Tiwari.

Admission to both matches is free.
