
Volleyball Hits the Road for Trio of Road Matches

JACKSON, Miss.- The Southern Miss Volleyball team heads back on the road for another trio of matches starting Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles will play their first of the three matches at Jackson State on Wednesday evening at 6.

The Blue Bengals head into the match with a 3-4 record after losing to Memphis 0-3 on the road.

Southern Miss leads Jackson State in multiple statistical categories, including 14.4 digs per set compared to the Bengals' 13.5. Sophomore libero Sunni Sheppard has led the defense for the Golden Eagles this season, with her average at 4.32 digs per set since her debut.

The Golden Eagles also hold more block assists at 115 compared to Jackson State's 84. Middle blocker Torrey Tkach holds 35 of those block assists, followed by Izzy Kronenberg with 19.

Marcus Hereford begins his first season as a head coach for Jackson State. Beforehand, he was an assistant coach for the program for six years.

The Golden Eagles will head to Starkville, Mississippi to play a pair of matches against Mississippi State on Thursday at 6 p.m. and Friday at 3 p.m.

The Bulldogs advanced to 4-3 overall (0-0 SEC) after a 3-0 sweep against Grambling State.

The Golden Eagles lead the Bulldogs in offensive and defensive statistics, but most prominently kills and assists. Sophomore Sadie McAda accounts for over 30 percent of those kills, sitting at a current 128.
