Southern Miss Men’s Golf Holds 18th Place After First Two Rounds of Bearcat Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss men's golf team shot rounds of 289 and 308 to hold 18th place after the opening day of the Bearcat Invitational Monday in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Golden Eagles, which are playing at the par 71, 7,111-yard Coldstream Golf Course, got 36 holes scores of 148 from both junior Will Burnham (Jackson, Miss.) and freshman Matthew Javier (Toronto, Ontario) as they lead the way for Southern Miss tied for 61st. Javier collected rounds of 70 and 78, while Burnham added scores of 73 and 75 over his first two circuits.
Senior Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) finds himself one stroke back of his teammates with a 149 and a 70th-place tie, after putting together a 70 and 79 over his first two rounds.
Supakorn Amornchaichan, a sophomore from Pattaya City, Thailand, added a 151 for an 86th-place after registering a pair of 76s. Redshirt sophomore Walker Wise (Tupelo, Miss.) recorded rounds of 81 and 84 to end his day with a 165 total and in 96th place.
The Golden Eagles registered a 597 for a team score over their first two rounds with the final round set to take place at 8 a.m., CT Tuesday. Louisville leads the team scoring with a six-under 562.
