Men's and Women's Tennis Teams Recognized for Academic Success

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Following the 2023-24 academic year, both the Southern Miss men's and women's tennis programs were recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for its academic success off the court.
Both teams were named ITA All-Academic Teams based on their cumulative team GPA's being over a 3.2 GPA. The men's team had three ITA Scholar Athletes, which was based on having a 3.5 GPA or above. Those three student-athletes included Henry Lamchinniah, Pawin Jirapoomdaje and Saheb Sodhi. The women's team had five student-athletes named to the list. Those five included Alyssa Richter, Angelina Blinova, Gabriella Danielsson, Suhana Das, and Sydney Smyczynski.
To go along with the ITA awards, head coaches Zubin and Piyanart Engineer were recognized last week at a staff meeting for guiding their teams to academic success. The two were awarded Sun Belt academic plaques from the 2022-23 academic year.
