Women's Tennis Falls in Regular Season Finale

JONESBORO, Ark. – Southern Miss (4-14, 0-10 Sun Belt) women's tennis dropped a 4-1 decision at Arkansas State (8-14, 2-9 Sun Belt) on Saturday morning.

The Golden Eagles fell behind after doubles play when the Red Wolves claimed a pair of wins on courts two and three. Suhana Das and Alyssa Richter went unfinished on court one after ending tied 5-5.

Arkansas State took a 2-0 lead with a singles win on court two as Hannah Chambers fell to Yasmine Humbert in straight sets. Malannia Vashkevich answered the call on court six as she cruised to a 6-4, 6-1 win to make it a 2-1 match. Despite the win, the Red Wolves went on to secure the next two singles wins to clinch the match.

Southern Miss will play on Wednesday in Rome, Ga. in the opening round of the Sun Belt Championships.
