Men's Tennis Draws Old Dominion in Sun Belt Tournament

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The seventh-seeded Southern Miss (7-10, 3-5 Sun Belt) men's tennis team will face off against No. 2 Old Dominion (17-7, 7-1 Sun Belt) on Friday in the second round of the Sun Belt Tournament in Rome, Ga. The first serve is set for 1 p.m. EST and will air on ESPN+.
The Golden Eagles received a first-round bye after the top seven seeds advanced straight into the second round. Coastal Carolina and James Madison opened the tournament on Thursday morning, where the Chanticleers won 4-2 at the Rome Tennis Center.
Southern Miss is riding a five-match losing streak that started following a key win James Madison on the road. In that stretch, the Golden Eagles fell 4-0 to Old Dominion two days later in Norfolk, Va. Olimjon Nabiev leads the team in wins with eight, while Olle Noltorp has seven in his rookie campaign. Henry Lamchinniah and Dakotah Bobo paced the team in doubles action with a 5-5 mark.
A LOOK AT OLD DOMINION
Old Dominion heads to Rome as winners in three of its last five, including the win over Southern Miss. The Monarchs are led by Yanis Moundir's 16-2 record and have gotten another 17 wins from Connor van Schalkwyk. Old Dominion went 78-39 in singles action during the regular season and had two doubles teams post at least 10 wins.
