HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss men's tennis senior Saheb Sodhi has been named Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
Sodhi capped the regular season with a strong weekend for the Golden Eagles, going 2-0 in singles play at the No. 3 position and not dropping a set across both matches. He opened the weekend with a 6-3, 6-2 win at Louisiana, accounting for Southern Miss' lone point in the match, before closing with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at Nicholls to help lead the Golden Eagles to a 4-0 win in the regular-season finale.
Competing in the middle of the lineup, Sodhi delivered in key moments throughout the weekend. His point at Louisiana came in a tight road environment and gave Southern Miss momentum early in singles play, while his performance at Nicholls helped the Golden Eagles take control of the match after securing the doubles point.
Sodhi has been a consistent presence in the Southern Miss lineup throughout his career, contributing in both singles and doubles play. The senior from Mumbai, India has primarily competed in the middle of the singles order and has provided key wins for the Golden Eagles throughout the season, including multiple straight-set victories in dual match play.
The honor marks the second Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week recognition in program history and the first for Sodhi. He joins Kale Mize as the only Golden Eagles to earn the weekly award.
With the regular season complete, Sodhi and the Golden Eagles now turn their attention to the Sun Belt Conference Championships, set to begin later this week in Rome, Georgia.
