Navet Named Sun Belt Women's Golfer of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – Southern Miss freshman Ragini Navet was named the Sun Belt Women's Golfer of the Week, as announced by the Sun Belt Conference on Thursday afternoon.
Navet is coming off an eighth-place finish at the Brickyard Collegiate, which included a final round score of a three-under 69. It marked the second consecutive tournament where the New Delhi, India native shot in the 60s after a five-under 67 the week prior at the ULM Invitational. Her finish in the 52-person field, while Southern Miss finished in fifth as a team.
Her finish was a career-best and her weekend score of 223 was three strokes off her career low. Navet led the field in average scoring on par 3s after averaging 2.92 strokes. The Golden Eagle newcomer also posted a tournament-best 13 birdies. Navet is the first Southern Miss women's golfer to earn conference player of the week honors since Julie Baker on Oct. 15, 2017.
Navet and the Golden Eagles now turn their attention to the Sun Belt Championships next week. The four-day event is being held at Lakewood Golf Club in Point Clear, Ala.
