Men's Tennis Falls at No. 33 UCF

ORLANDO, Fla. – Southern Miss (5-4, 1-0 Sun Belt) men's tennis fell 7-0 to No. 33 UCF (14-1, 0-0 Big 12) on Thursday night in Orlando, Fla. The loss started a six-match road trip for the Golden Eagles that will feature stops at South Alabama, Troy, James Madison, Old Dominion and Louisiana.
UCF took a pair of doubles matches on court two and three, while Dakotah Bobo and Henry Lamchinniah went unfinished despite leading 5-4. Liam Branger and Santiago Giamichelle started the day with a 6-1 win over Olimjon Nabiev and Saheb Sodhi. The Knights clinched the doubles point as Emilio Sanchez and Francisco Llanes defeated Pasawee Reansuwong and Shamirul Shahril, 6-3.
Southern Miss in straight sets in all six singles matches. Lamchinniah dropped a tiebreaker in the first set on court five, which was the closest match for the Golden Eagles in singles action.
Despite the loss, Southern Miss has five wins in its last seven matches and is off to a 1-0 start in Sun Belt play. The Golden Eagles return to action on March 23 against South Alabama. First serve from Mobile, Ala. is slated for 10 a.m.
