Men's Tennis Heads to Alabama to Face South Alabama and Troy

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss (5-4, 1-0 Sun Belt) men's tennis starts a stretch of seven-straight Sun Belt matches to close out the season this weekend as it travels to Mobile to face South Alabama (6-7, 1-1 Sun Belt) on Saturday at 10 a.m. The trip continues Sunday at Troy (15-3, 1-1 Sun Belt) with first serve set for 1 p.m.
"We had a good break from matches this past week where we were able to hone in on some technical areas during practice," said head coach Zubin Engineer. "I think the team is ready to make a push as week get deep into conference play over the next couple of weeks."
The Golden Eagles have won three of their last five matches, but last time out they fell to No. 33 UCF on the road. Southern Miss is 1-0 in Sun Belt play after picking up a 4-1 win over Coastal Carolina in Hattiesburg on March 5. Senior Olimjon Nabiev leads the team in wins with six, while freshman Henry Lamchinniah has racked up five wins.
The Jaguars host the Golden Eagles coming off a win against James Madison, but have lost three of their last five matches. The Trojans come with the most wins in Sun Belt with a 15-3 record and a 9-0 mark at home.
