Men's Tennis Bounces Back to Top New Orleans

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss (1-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season on Monday after cruising to a 5-2 win over New Orleans at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex.
Two of Southern Miss' doubles teams picked up a win over the Privateers, while Shamirul Shahril and Saheb Sodhi were leading a match that went unfinished. Dakotah Bobo and Henry Lamchinniah won at the top singles spot, 6-3, and Pasawee Reansuwong and Olle Noltorp won by the same score on court three.
In singles play, Bobo stormed back from a first set loss to beat Marcel Volz on court one via a 0-6, 7-6, 7-5 score. The Golden Eagles stayed hot with wins on court five and six from a pair of newcomers. Lamchinniah cruised to a 6-2, 7-5 win on court five and Noltorp won 6-0, 6-1 on court six. Olimjon Nabiev locked up the win with a 7-6, 6-4 win over Matthew Armbruster on court four.
The win avenges a Saturday loss to Samford where Southern Miss was shutout. The Bulldogs won their singles matches on courts one, two, three and four. They also won on court one and two in doubles play.
Southern Miss will return to the court on Friday at Jackson State. First serve in Jackson is slated for 2 p.m.
