Indoor Track and Field Completes Regular Season Music City Challenge Meet Saturday

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Southern Miss indoor track and field squad completed its regular season Saturday by tallying three event victories and one school record at the Music City Challenge in Nashville, Tenn.
The Golden Eagles also enjoyed their best day of the winter season, by posting 14 top eight finishers.
On the women's side, Za'Isha Fraser collected her third event title of the indoor season in the triple jump, besting the field on this day with a leap of 12.77 meters. The other first-place showing from Southern Miss came from
Trinity Benson with a 7.39 in the 60 meters. Benson also served as a leg on the 4x400 squad, which posted a school record time of 3:40.47. That time was good enough to finish second in the event.
Meanwhile, the 4x400 men's squad of Elijah Berry, Omar Austin, Jacoby Tanner and Javel Fullerton captured the lone men's title with a time of 3:13.04.
Other Southern Miss women's finishers included a third place for Addison McLaurin in the unseeded 400 meters with a 55.86, while Jada McDougle (7.40) and Kenia Seals (7.52) placed second and fourth, respectively, in the 60 meters dash.
On the men's side, Kingsley Unorji finished second in the 60 meters with a 6.66, while Gracious Ushie ended in fifth with a 6.76. Fullerton added third place in the unseeded 400 meters with a 48.00, while Jacoby Turner collected a seventh-place finish with a 49.02. In the seeded 400-meter race, Omar Austin placed sixth with a 48.04.
Clemon Jimerson and Maxiumus Littleton rounded out the Southern Miss finishers in the triple jump with a fourth and sixth place, respectively. Jimerson collected a mark of 14.00 meters, while Littleton was 13.69 meters.
The Golden Eagles return to action for the Sun Belt Championship, Feb. 19-20, at the CrossPlex in Birmingham.
