
Volleyball Hosts Troy for Final Home Series

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Golden Eagles are set to host Troy this weekend in two conference matches at the Wellness Center. Thursday and Friday's match are scheduled for 6 p.m.
Thursday's match will feature a Christmas theme, with free admission for each person who brings a toy to donate to children this holiday season. Friday will be Senior Night, where Southern Miss will honor seniors Aysu Dalogullari, Madison Baldridge, Kallie Siebrasse, and Izzy Kronenberg.
Southern Miss concluded its series of matches last weekend with a three-set loss to Texas State on Saturday. The Golden Eagles fell to 9-15 (5-7 SBC), while Texas State improved to 15-8 (9-3). Sadie McAda led the Golden Eagles offensively with nine kills, while Francesca Panunzio recorded 20 assists. Sunni Sheppard and McAda each contributed 15 digs, and Torrey Tkach, McAda, and Panunzio tallied two blocks apiece. Sheppard also posted two service aces.
The Golden Eagles still lead the conference in the Sun Belt standings with 332 block assists and 1,535 digs. They are second in the Sun Belt for digs per set, averaging 17.06.
Panunzio holds the eighth spot in the conference for assists per set, with an average of 6.68. Sheppard leads the conference with 462 total digs and is the only player in the Sun Belt to have three or more matches with 30 or more digs. She also recorded the second-highest number of digs in a match this season, with 36 against Arkansas State.
Troy enters the series after two wins against ULM in Monroe. Southern Miss leads Troy in kills (1,074-1,039), assists (992-981), digs (1,535-1,038), digs per set (17.1-12.8), block assists (332-215) and blocks per set (2.2-1.8).
Both matches will be available to stream on ESPN+.
