Women’s Basketball Welcomes Georgia State for Thursday Sun Belt Action

Lady Eagles welcome Georgia State to Hattiesburg for the first time in 47 years
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss hosts Georgia State at Reed Green Coliseum for a 6 p.m. tipoff between the Sun Belt Conference foes. The game will be the third time in as many years that the two programs have squared off but will be Georgia State's first trip to Hattiesburg since 1976.

LAST TIME OUT
The Lady Eagles picked up their eighth win of the season and first in over a month with a 77-69 win over South Alabama. The victory snapped Southern Miss' seven-game losing skid and proved that the Lady Eagles are still a force in the Sun Belt Conference race this season.
The win was also Southern Miss' first of the Sun Belt season, moving the team's conference record to 1-4 this year.
Melyia Grayson (24), Domonique Davis (22) and Jacorriah Bracey (14) combined for 60 of Southern Miss' 77 points with Grayson (Hattiesburg, Miss.) and Bracey (Drew, Miss.) going for double-doubles and Davis (DeRidder, La.) notching her 29th career game with 20+ points.
ABOUT GEORGIA STATE
Gene Hill's Panthers are 9-6 on the year and 3-2 in Sun Belt play and playing well at that. Georgia State is scoring 72.5 points per game and winning games by an average of 5.5 points per game so far. Three Panthers, Mikyla Tolivert (15.0), Courtney Henderson (11.6) and Mya Williams (10.3), are averaging double-figure scoring performances this season.
Additionally, Deasia Merrill leads the group on the glass with 6.2 boards per game while Henderson leads GSU in assists and steals.

Southern Miss leads the overall series 4-2 and is riding a three-game win streak after winning the past two year's matches and one in 1990. The last time Georgia State game to Hattiesburg, Southern Miss won as well. The exact date of that game has been lost to history, but the Lady Eagles are 1-0 all-time at Reed Green Coliseum against GSU.
AFTER THIS
Southern Miss closes out its four-game homestand against ULM. The Warhawks are led by former Jones County Junior College head coach Missy Bilderback. In her first season, Bilderback has the Warhawks as an early favorite for the conference's and country's most-improved program as ULM has started 11-5.
The Lady Eagles and Warhawks face off at Noon on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Reed Green Coliseum with the men's game to follow immediately after.
