HATTIESBURG, Miss. – After opening the 2023-24 season with a tournament victory, the Southern Miss men's golf team travels to Cincinnati, Ohio, for their second tournament of the fall when they play in the 18-team Bearcat Invitational starting Monday.
The 54-hole, two-day event starts Monday with an 8 a.m., CT shotgun start at the par-71, 7,279-yard course at the Coldstream Country Club. The Golden Eagles are set to play 36 continuous holes on Monday, before finishing the event on Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles captured the Argent Financial Classic for the second-straight year last week as the team rallied late and won the team crown on the first playoff hole, defeating UAB and Louisiana.
Southern Miss had three players finish in the Top 12, all of which will play again this week. Both Thongpipat Rattanyanon (Bangkok, Thailand) and Robbie Latter (Mississauga, Ontario) finished tied for seventh with a five-under 211, while freshman Suprakorn Amornchaichan (Pattaya City, Thailand) finished two strokes back at 213 in a 12th-place tie. Along with those Golden Eagles, Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) looks to improve on his 220 from last week, while Bennett Ruby (Waterloo, Ontario) makes his season's debut.
The field along with Southern Miss includes host Cincinnati as well as Arkansas State, BYU, UCF, Chattanooga, Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois State, Jacksonville, Little Rock, Louisville, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Nebraska, UNCG, Sam Houston, Virginia Tech and the Cincinnati "B" squad.
