NATCHITOCHES, La.-- The Southern Miss Women's Tennis team concludes day two of the Lady Demon Women's Care Collegiate Invite, with the squad achieving notable results.
"This was a great tournament towards our fall preparation," said coach Engineer. "We had all four girls in the finals in different draws and won three out of the six. This weekend's performance provided valuable insights and told us what to work on and improve in practice."
Senior Suhana Das emerged victorious in the consolation final against Leah Kuruvilla of Lamar in the purple singles draw, setting a positive tone for the morning. In the purple doubles draw's consolation final, the Golden Eagle pairs of Angelina Blinova and Gabrielle Danielsson and Zenn Lim and Das faced off, with Lim and Das serving the win.
Freshman Danielsson showcased her talent by winning the consolation final of the orange singles draw, defeating Jayci Wong of Lamar in two sets, 6-2, 6-1.
The Golden Eagles launched an impressive opening to their fall season and are now eagerly looking forward to the ITA Regionals in Baton Rouge from October 5-8, hosted by LSU.
