Southern Miss Soccer Opens 2023 Season in Oxford

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss Soccer team is set to open the 2023 season on the road in Oxford against Ole Miss Thursday. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. the contest will be streamed on SEC+.
The Golden Eagles recorded two exhibition wins, taking an 8-0 decision over Pearl River Community College, followed by a 3-2 victory over Jackson State. The teams have met on 12 occasions, with the Rebels leading the series 11-0-1. The lone tie came from the scoreless draw in Oxford last season, the first against the Rebels in the program's history.
Scouting Ole Miss: Six Rebels have been named to the SEC Women's Soccer watch list Kelly Brady, Kayla Chatman-Haggerty, Aubrey Mister, Lauren Montgomery, Shu Ohba, and Taylor Radecki. Ole Miss brought in 11 newcomers, including three transfers, Meredith King, Kelly Brady, and Shu Ohba from Liberty, Central Connecticut State, and East Tennessee.The match will mark the first official contest of Molly Rouse as the third head coach in Ole Miss history after being the head coach of Utah Tech for three years.
Guess Who's Back/Fresh Faces: The Black and Gold roster features 17 returners and has welcomed 14 newcomers; the group features 13 versatile field players and one goalkeeper.
