Former Players Currently in Professional Baseball

HATTIEBURG, Miss. – Fourteen former Southern Miss baseball players are currently on affiliated team rosters, including one Major League Baseball player, Nick Sandlin with the Cleveland Guardians.
Two former Golden Eagles, Chuckie Robinson (Cincinnati Reds) and Matt Wallner (Minnesota Twins) both are on Triple-A rosters and each have seen times in the big leagues.
One other former pitcher, Kirk McCarty, is also playing overseas in the Korean Baseball Organization for the SSG Landers, has compiled a 6-3 record in 12 starts with a 2.48 ERA. He has 63 strikeouts and only 22 walks in 69 innings.
More Golden Eagles will be added to this mix when MLB has its annual draft, July 9-11, from Phoenix, Ariz.
