HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings honored Southern Miss pitchers Tanner Hall (Zachary, La.) and Justin Storm (Madison, Miss.) Friday by naming them to the organization's All-America teams.
Hall, who has collected first-team honors by Collegiate Baseball, the NCBWA and Perfect Game this month, garnered a second-team award, while Storm was picked as a relief pitcher for the third team.
Hall, the first Golden Eagle to ever earn first-team honors in consecutive seasons, registered a 12-4 record with a 2.48 earned run average in 2023. He fanned 124 batters and walked 33 in 112 1/3 innings. Hall's win total ranks second in school history for a season, while his 22 career victories rank tied for seventh at the school. He also holds a third-place tie in career strikeouts with 302 at Southern Miss.
Hall earned the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year award, as he was the only pitcher in the league to win nine of his 10 conference starts. The three-time Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week also captured the Guardian Credit Union Sun Belt Championship Most Outstanding Player. Hall's conference Pitcher of the Year honor was the second-straight for the Golden Eagle hurler, as he became the second Southern Miss player to accomplish that feat.
Storm collected his first All-America accolade after putting together a season that included a 7-2 record and a 2.36 ERA over a team-high 29 appearances that spanned 45 2/3 innings. He fanned 72 and walked just 17 as opponents hit just .159 against him during the year.
In five postseason appearances, Storm appeared in five games boasting a 4-1 record and allowed three runs (two earned) over 17 1/3 innings for a 1.04 ERA and gave up only 10 hits, four walks to go along with 23 strikeouts over that time.
The Golden Eagles finished 46-20 in Scott Berry's final season as head coach, reaching the NCAA Super Regionals for the second consecutive year.
