
Four Southern Miss Baseball Players Earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Honors

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss pitchers Tanner Hall and Justin Storm registered first-team all-region honors while shortstop Dustin Dickerson and designated hitter Slade Wilks earned second-team nods by the American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles finished their season Monday night, falling in game three of the Hattiesburg Super Regional to Tennessee, 5-0, registering a 46-20 mark to conclude the year.
Hall, the school's first, first-team All-American in consecutive seasons from Zachary, La., earned first team honors by posting a 12-4 record with a 2.48 earned run average in 2023, as he fanned 124 batters, and walked 33 in 112 1/3 innings. The junior right-hander's season win total ranks second in school history, while his 22 career victories ranks tied for seventh at the school.
He also holds a third-place tie in career strikeouts with 302 at Southern Miss.
Storm, a junior left-handed relief pitcher from Madison, Miss., appeared in a team-high 29 games and posted a 7-2 record with eight saves. He boasted a 2.36 ERA as he fanned 72 and walked just 17 in 45 2/3 innings while opponents hit .159 against him this season. Storm boasted a 1.05 WHIP during the year.
As for Dickerson, the junior from Laurel, Miss., led the team in batting with a .328 average to go along with 21 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs and 52 RBI. Seven of his homers came in the postseason as he hit five in the NCAA Tournament, which helped him be named the Most Outstanding Player for the Auburn Regional.
Wilks, the junior from Columbia, Miss., finished his year with a .289 batting average with 12 doubles, two triples, 20 home runs and a team-best 58 RBI. His homer total is tied for 10th on the school's single-season chart.
First Team All-Region selections are nominated for ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors. The ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. I All-America teams will be announced the morning of Friday, June 16 prior to the start of the 2023 NCAA Div. I College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
