HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The NCAA Hattiesburg Super Regional featuring Southern Miss and Tennessee was suspended Saturday evening due to lightning and rain in the area.
Sunday's resumption of the contest will start at 11:00 a.m., with a second game set to follow at 2 p.m., or 55 minutes following the conclusion of the first game should it run long.
The following information is regarding tickets and parking for Sunday.
For the resumption of session one, please have your session one ticket ready to scan upon entrance. Gates will open two hours prior to the first pitch for session one.
After the completion of session one, we will ask fans to clear Pete Taylor Park for the start of session two. Gates will open once we have cleared the stadium for session two.
We will allow fans in the standing room only area to leave their chair setup to hold their place for seating for session two.
Fans with reserved parking will be asked to use their session two parking pass for the duration of the day tomorrow.
The game went into a delay for the second time in the bottom of the fifth with Southern Miss, the designated visiting team, leading the Volunteers 4-0.
The Golden Eagles scored their runs on a two-run triple by Tate Parker in the first, followed with solo home runs by both Dustin Dickerson, in the third, and, Nick Monistere, in the fifth. It was the 11th homer for Dickerson this season and fifth for Monistere.
Billy Oldham had limited UT to two hits over 4 1/3 innings and the game was suspended with the Volunteers with a runner at first with one out and Christian Scott at the plate with a 1-1 count.
The first delay went 1 hour, 34 minutes in the bottom of the fourth before the teams resumed play and played for 14 minutes before being delayed again by lightning.
