Cameron Clarke Opens First Round of NCAA Auburn Regional

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss graduate transfer Cameron Clarke (Pittsboro, Miss.) shot a first-round 77 at the NCAA Auburn Regional Monday in Auburn, Ala., to hold down a 50th-place tie.
The event, being played at the par 72, 7,560-yard Auburn University Club, continues Tuesday and Wednesday with 18 more holes each day and Clarke looking for the chance to advance to the national championship event set for Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 26-31.
After 12 holes, Clarke was sitting at one-over having bogeyed both No. 4 and No. 9, but birded No. 6. The back nine, though, saw him bogey No 13. and No. 14, before double bogeying No. 15. Clarke then delivered a par on the final three holes to finish the round.
No. 48 Chattanooga leads in the team standings with a five-under 283, while Christoph Bleier of Colorado State and John Houk of Chattanooga hold the individual lead with a four-under 68.
Clarke will tee off at No. 1 again on Tuesday with his tee time set for 10:01 am.
