Men's Tennis Closes Home Slate Against Louisiana on Sunday

Hattiesburg, Miss.—The Southern Miss (6-12, 0-4 Sun Belt) men's tennis team is set to host Louisiana (11-7, 4-1 Sun Belt) on Sunday at 2 p.m. to close out the home portion of the regular season. The match was previously scheduled for today, Saturday, April 8, but was postponed due to inclement weather in Hattiesburg. Admission to the Southern Miss Tennis Complex is free.
"I'm glad we were able to get this match rescheduled after we've been getting hammered with rain the last couple of days," said head coach Zubin Engineer. "Louisiana is a well-coached team and will provide a good match for our fans that attend our final home match of the season."
The Golden Eagles are looking to end a seven-game skid and grab their first Sun Belt win of the season. They fell 5-2 to James Madison in their last match a week ago, but picked up the doubles point for the second consecutive day.
Antoine Audrain leads the Golden Eagles in winning percentage at 6-4, while Olimjon Nabiev leads the way with eight wins in singles play. At 22-23, Southern Miss is hovering one win below .500 in doubles play.
Louisiana comes into town winners of two of its three matches. Its only loss since March 3 came from the hands of Old Dominion last week. Karlo Kajin leads the singles roster with a record of 12-4, On the other side, Kajin and Al Sanchez Gonzalez are at the top of doubles play at 6-5.
