Benson Named Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS - Trinity Benson, a sprinter for the Southern Miss track and field team, was selected the week three Women's Track Athlete of the Week by the Sun Belt Conference on Wednesday as a result of her performances at the annual Southern Miss Track and Field Invitational this past weekend.
"Trinity has been stellar in all her events over the past three years. I'm so glad that her greatness has been recognized this week," said head coach Jon Stuart.
The Louisiana native recorded three top-three finishes at the Southern Miss Track and Field Invitational. In the 400-meter dash, Benson took first with a time of 56.51. She later aided the four by 100 team in a first place showing with a time of 44.76 for a season-best and for the top mark in the conference. The four by 400 squad placed second and clocked a time of 3:50.10.
