Men’s Golf Finishes in 10th Place at Sun Belt Conference Championship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss graduate transfer Cameron Clarke (Pittsboro, Miss.) shot a final-round 71 and the Golden Eagles finished 10th in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Wednesday afternoon at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Miss.
Clarke finished the event with an even-par, three-round score of 216 and ended in a ninth-place tie as the Golden Eagles highest finisher.
Junior Thongpipat Rattanayanon (Bangkok, Thailand) added a 76 over his final 18 holes for a 223-stroke total and a tie for 29th-place, while sophomore Ryan Dupuy (Baton Rouge, La.) and junior Bennett Ruby each posted final-round 80s to end in 45th and 57th place ties, respectively. Dupuy collected a 227-stroke total, while Ruby compiled a 229.
Robbie Latter, a junior from Mississauga, Ontario, who had shot a 70 and 72 over his first two rounds and was the top Golden Eagle heading into the final day, had to withdraw from the event during the final circuit.
The Golden Eagles shot a final-round 307 to finish with an 888-stroke total.
Georgia Southern ended the 54-hole stroke play in first place with an 861, followed by South Alabama at 862 and both Troy and Louisiana tied for third at 870. The four teams advance to match play Thursday to determine the team champion and NCAA representative for the league.
