Southern Miss Women's Tennis Set for Conference Championships in Georgia

HATTIESBURG, Miss.– In the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament on Wednesday morning in Peachtree City, Georgia, the fourth-seeded Southern Miss women's tennis team (7-11, 2-9 Sun Belt) will square off against the fourth-seeded Georgia Southern (17-5, 8-3 Sun Belt).
The Black and Gold recently defeated Arkansas State 4-0 at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex to earn their second conference victory. The Golden Eagles secured the doubles point when the pairs of Ebru Zeynep Yazgan, Alyssa Richter, Maddison Ricardo, and Clara Tardivel topped opponents with 6-3 6-2. The third pairing of Zenn Lim and Suhana Das went 4-3 before play was halted. In singles play, the Black and Gold added to their lead with wins on courts three, five, and six. Alyssa Richter, Suhana Das, and Zenn Lim went unfinished in their singles matchups.
During the regular season, newcomer Zenn Linn led the team with ten victories, while Hannah Chambers and Maddison Ricardo shared second place with eight victories each. Clara Tardivel finished the season with six. In doubles play, Ebru Zeynep Yazgan and Alyssa Richter led the team in wins with nine.
Wednesday's meeting marks Southern Miss and Georgia Southern's second meeting this season. In Hattiesburg on April 1, the Eagles defeated the Golden Eagles 4-0. With victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, Georgia Southern earned the doubles point. Suhana Das and Clara Tardivel's pair went unfinished. The Eagles completed their feat by winning three singles matches in straight sets.
