Women's Tennis Closes Regular Season Play with a 4-0 Win Over Arkansas State

HATTIESBURG, Miss.-- The Southern Miss women's tennis team (7-11, 2-9 Sun Belt) closes out regular season play against Arkansas State (2-17, 0-11 Sun Belt) with a 4-0 shutout for their second conference win of the season at the Southern Miss Tennis Complex Saturday afternoon.
"The team stepped up well today to give us the doubles point and then competed well in singles to give us the win in our final conference home match. We are ready to compete in our first Sun Belt Championship next week," said head coach Piyanart Engineer.
The Golden Eagles secured the doubles tally as the pairs of Ebru Zeynep Yazgan and Alyssa Richter and Maddison Ricardo and Clara Tardivel defeated opponents with the scores of 6-3 and 6-2. The third pairing of Zenn Lim and Suhana Das went 4-3 before going unfinished.
Heading into singles play, the Golden Eagles added to their lead when Maddison Ricardo ousted Abigail Thurmer 6-1, 6-0 on court five. Clara Tardivel and Hannah Chambers would secure the conference win on courts three and six when they defeated opponents 6-2, 6-3, and 6-3, 6-3. Alyssa Richter, Suhana Das, and Zenn Lim went unfinished in their singles matchups.
The Golden Eagles are set to play in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference Championships against the No.4 seed Coastal Carolina on April 26 in Peachtree City, Ga. at 11:30 a.m. Live results and streaming will be available.
